However, many site owners find that hardly anyone is visiting their website if they’re even getting any traffic at all. Perhaps you spent a long time putting it together, and you just can’t work out why no one is looking at it. But websites don’t just magically become popular because they have something interesting on them.
You might be selling a unique and extremely useful product, but no one will find your site unless you help them out. Here are some of the reasons you might not be getting any traffic.
You’re Not Working on SEO
Search engine optimization is vital for any website. Many new site owners make an attempt at it, but often they don’t get it right. If you haven’t paid any attention to SEO, you need to find out what you need to do to improve your site. However, you might have tried, and it hasn’t worked as you hoped.
What many site owners find is that they need someone to take care of it for them. You might not have time to handle it all, but there are many search engine optimization companies out there who do. Paying for the service could be an excellent use of your funds if it boosts your traffic.
You Aren’t Doing Anything Outside Your Site
Perhaps your website is pretty good on the SEO front, and you’re putting up lots of new content. However, you shouldn’t just be concentrating on the site itself. Developing a web presence is important, and social media is a big part of that. You don’t have to use all the different platforms. However, choosing one that makes sense for you or your business can help to give your reputation a boost. It might be Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or even LinkedIn.
Your Site Looks Untrustworthy
Your website has to look like it can be trusted. No one would walk into a store if it looked sketchy, and the same is true for your site. People could be taking one look at your site and leaving, or even receiving a warning that it’s untrustworthy before they visit. You need to make sure that your site can be trusted if you want to increase the traffic you receive.
You Aren’t Link Building
You might have worked on SEO on your website, but you need to work on things off your site too. One of the things that can improve your site’s ranking is having quality inbound links. You need other websites to link to your website to give it a better reputation. But you don’t want just any low-quality website.
The links need to be relevant and to come from decent sites. You should also think about your use of keywords for link building.
There are several other reasons you might not be getting as much traffic as you want. If you want people to visit your site, you have to make an effort to get them to come. 🙂
