About Lifestyle

This is the lighter end of the site, and it does not pretend otherwise. It covers the ordinary occasions – birthdays, engagements, moving in, living with other people, living with a dog.

A fair amount of it is genuinely for fun: what is supposedly true of people born in each month, birthday messages worth sending, an affectionate defence of hostel life. Some of it is practical in a small way – what engagement ring styles currently look like, which mattress suits a shared bed, or what owning a Caucasian Shepherd actually involves before anyone commits to one.

The one thing taken seriously is the difference between a light article and a careless one. Where a piece involves a real decision – an animal, a large purchase, a person’s feelings – it tries to be accurate even when the tone stays easy.

For health and wellbeing rather than daily life, see Health; for the home itself, Home.
