Note (September 2026): Airtel’s plan cards list Amazon Prime Lite, not a full one-year Amazon Prime membership, on the ₹1,199, ₹1,599 and ₹3,999 plans, which the price table below had overstated; the standalone value of the ₹999 bundle has also been corrected.
As of September 2026, Airtel Xstream Fiber broadband plans cost ₹499 to ₹3,999 a month plus 18% GST, all with unlimited data and speeds from 40 Mbps to 1 Gbps. The ₹999 plan (100 Mbps with Netflix Basic, Amazon Prime and Apple TV) is the best value for most homes, while Airtel AirFiber (₹699–₹899) covers addresses that fiber cannot reach.
Last updated: September 2026 — plan prices, speeds, and OTT benefits checked against Airtel’s official broadband plan listings. Airtel revises plans and bundled benefits periodically and some options vary by city, so confirm the exact offer for your address on airtel.in before you book.
Quick Answer: Which Airtel Broadband Plan Is Best?
For most homes, as of September 2026, the best Airtel broadband plan is the ₹999 Xstream Fiber plan: 100 Mbps unlimited data plus Netflix Basic, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, JioHotstar Super, ZEE5, Google One, and Adobe Express bundled in. Budget users should take the ₹799 (100 Mbps) plan, heavy households and creators the ₹1,599 (300 Mbps) plan, and gamers or power users the ₹3,999 (1 Gbps) plan with Netflix Premium.
Key Takeaways
- Prices run ₹499–₹3,999 per month plus 18% GST — so the ₹999 plan really bills about ₹1,179. Budget for GST; every list price Airtel shows excludes it.
- The OTT sweet spot moved: Netflix now enters the lineup at ₹999 (it used to require the ₹1,599 tier), which is why that plan is our top pick.
- All plans are unlimited data on Xstream Fiber, with no speed throttling — but Airtel AirFiber (the 5G wireless version) throttles to 2 Mbps after 1TB.
- Installation is a ₹1,500 advance, not a fee — it’s adjusted against your future bills. The Wi-Fi router is free but remains Airtel’s property.
- Google One (cloud storage) and Adobe Express Premium come with every plan — a genuinely useful freebie most competitors don’t match.
- Pay 6–12 months upfront and Airtel discounts the rental up to ~15% depending on plan and city — the single easiest way to cut your bill.
Airtel Xstream Fiber Plans: Full Price List
Airtel currently sells eight Xstream Fiber plans between ₹499 and ₹3,999 per month, all with unlimited data. Speeds run from 40 Mbps to 1 Gbps, and the OTT stack grows with price — Netflix Basic from ₹999, Netflix Premium only on the 1 Gbps plan. All prices exclude 18% GST.
| Plan (₹/month + GST) | Speed | Data | TV channels | Key OTT & extras | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ₹499 | Up to 40 Mbps | Unlimited | — | Google One, Adobe Express Premium, 3-month trial of 22+ OTTs | Solo users, light browsing |
| ₹699 (select cities) | Up to 40 Mbps | Unlimited | 350+ | JioHotstar, ZEE5, Xstream Play, Google One, Adobe Express | TV + internet on a budget |
| ₹799 | Up to 100 Mbps | Unlimited | — | Google One, Adobe Express Premium | Best pure-internet value |
| ₹899 | Up to 100 Mbps | Unlimited | 350+ | JioHotstar, ZEE5, Google One, Adobe Express | Families who still watch TV |
| ₹999 ⭐ | Up to 100 Mbps | Unlimited | — | Netflix Basic, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, JioHotstar Super, ZEE5, Xstream Premium, Google One, Adobe Express | Best overall — the OTT sweet spot |
| ₹1,199 | Up to 100 Mbps | Unlimited | 350+ | Netflix Basic, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Lite, JioHotstar, ZEE5, Google One, Adobe Express | ₹999 benefits + linear TV |
| ₹1,599 | Up to 300 Mbps | Unlimited | 350+ | Netflix Basic, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Lite, JioHotstar, ZEE5, Google One, Adobe Express | Big households, creators |
| ₹3,999 | Up to 1 Gbps | Unlimited | 350+ | Netflix Premium, Apple TV, Amazon Prime Lite, JioHotstar, ZEE5, Apollo 24/7 Circle, Google One (100GB), Adobe Express | Gamers, power users, home offices |
Expert read on this lineup: Airtel quietly removed the old 200 Mbps tier — the jump now goes straight from 100 Mbps to 300 Mbps. If you were on the old ₹1,099/200 Mbps plan, you’ve been migrated or will be; check your bill. The other real story is the ₹999 plan: bundling Netflix Basic, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV at that price replaces roughly ₹400–575 a month of standalone subscriptions (Netflix Basic ₹199, Apple TV ₹75, and Amazon Prime at ₹299 monthly or ₹1,499 a year, per each service’s Indian pricing as of September 2026) — so the internet effectively costs you a few hundred rupees.
Which Airtel Plan Should You Choose? (By User Type)
Match the plan to your household’s heaviest hour, not its average day: streamers need OTT bundles, gamers need the stability of fiber more than raw speed, and work-from-home users should prioritize upload performance and a backup connection.
| You are… | Take this plan | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Single user / student | ₹499 or ₹799 | 40 Mbps handles classes and streaming; ₹799’s 100 Mbps future-proofs a shared flat |
| Couple, mixed streaming | ₹999 | Netflix + Prime + Apple TV bundled beats paying separately |
| Family of 4+ with TV habit | ₹1,199 | Same OTT stack plus 350+ TV channels on one bill |
| Serious gamer | ₹999 (fiber) or ₹3,999 | Fiber’s 3–10 ms ping matters more than speed; 1 Gbps only if you download huge games often |
| Work from home | ₹799–₹999 | 100 Mbps symmetric-ish fiber handles video calls; spend savings on a 4G/5G backup |
| YouTube creator / heavy uploader | ₹1,599 | 300 Mbps shortens multi-GB uploads dramatically |
| Small office (5–15 people) | ₹1,599 or ₹3,999 | Headroom for simultaneous calls; ask about static IP add-on |
| No fiber in your lane | AirFiber ₹699–₹899 | 5G-based, installs anywhere with signal — mind the 1TB fair-usage cap |
Airtel AirFiber: The Wireless Alternative Explained
Airtel AirFiber is fixed wireless access (FWA) broadband delivered over Airtel’s 5G Plus network — plans run ₹699–₹899 for up to 100 Mbps with 20+ OTT apps, a free router, and free installation, but with two catches fiber doesn’t have: a 1TB monthly fair-usage cap (speed drops to 2 Mbps after) and a ₹3,300 upfront payment, which Airtel’s AirFiber page applies to Airtel Black and 6- or 12-month standalone plans (confirm the charge for a monthly plan at booking).
AirFiber exists for homes fiber can’t reach — new colonies, buildings where the society won’t permit cabling, or areas where laying fiber isn’t viable. Installation is currently offered only up to the 7th floor (the outdoor unit needs workable 5G signal geometry).
| Xstream Fiber | AirFiber | |
|---|---|---|
| Technology | Fiber optic to your home (FTTH) | 5G fixed wireless |
| Speed | 40 Mbps – 1 Gbps | Up to 100 Mbps (varies with signal) |
| Data | Truly unlimited | 1TB, then throttled to 2 Mbps |
| Latency (ping) | ~3–10 ms locally — great for gaming | ~20–50 ms and more variable |
| Upfront cost | ₹1,500 advance (adjusted in bills) | ₹3,300 acquisition payment |
| Weather/congestion sensitivity | Minimal | Possible during peak hours / poor signal |
| Best for | Everyone who can get it | Homes fiber can’t reach |
Expert tip: treat AirFiber as a bridge, not a destination. If you game competitively or your household streams heavily (a 4K-heavy family can burn through 1TB in three weeks), keep checking fiber availability for your address every few months — Airtel expands lanes continuously, and you can migrate.
Airtel vs JioFiber vs BSNL vs ACT vs Excitel: How Does It Compare?
Airtel Xstream Fiber wins on network consistency, customer service response, and the OTT bundle; JioFiber matches it plan-for-plan and sometimes undercuts on entry pricing; BSNL is cheaper but slower to fix faults; ACT and Excitel offer aggressive speed-per-rupee in the specific cities they serve. Competitor prices below are indicative — all ISPs revise plans frequently, so verify current rates before deciding.
| Factor | Airtel Xstream | JioFiber | BSNL Bharat Fibre | ACT Fibernet | Excitel |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Entry plan (approx.) | ₹499 / 40 Mbps | ~₹399–499 / 30 Mbps | ~₹399–449 / 30–60 Mbps | City-specific | ~₹399–499 / 100+ Mbps (long-term) |
| Popular mid tier | ₹999 / 100 Mbps + Netflix, Prime, Apple TV | ~₹999 / 150 Mbps + OTT pack | Cheaper, fewer OTTs | Strong speeds, some OTT | Flat high speeds, no OTT |
| OTT bundle depth | Excellent (incl. Apple TV, Google One, Adobe Express) | Very good | Weak | Moderate | None — that’s how it’s cheap |
| Coverage | Wide, metro + tier-2/3 | Widest | Widest rural reach | ~20 cities | Select cities, colony-dependent |
| Service reputation | Strong, fast fault resolution | Good, app-driven | Slow but improving | Good in its cities | Community/colony dependent |
| Pick it when… | You want reliability + OTTs on one bill | You’re in the Jio ecosystem | Budget rules everything | It serves your city well | You want max Mbps per rupee, no frills |
The honest verdict: in most metros, Airtel vs JioFiber is close to a coin flip on price and speed — decide on (a) which network your neighbours report fewer outages on, (b) which OTT stack you’d actually pay for anyway, and (c) bundle economics if you already hold an Airtel Black or Jio postpaid account. Local ISPs like Excitel win pure ₹-per-Mbps but you trade away bundled OTTs and, often, weekend-grade support.
How Much Speed Do You Actually Need?
A realistic sizing rule: 40 Mbps serves one or two light users, 100 Mbps comfortably runs a streaming family of four, 300 Mbps suits creators and large households, and 1 Gbps is for enthusiasts who download games or move big files routinely. Most buyers overpay for headline speed and underinvest in Wi-Fi coverage — the opposite of what daily experience rewards.
| Activity | Bandwidth per stream/user | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Web, email, UPI, social | 1–5 Mbps | Any plan works |
| HD video call (Zoom/Meet/Teams) | 3–5 Mbps down / 3+ up | Stability > speed; fiber shines |
| Full-HD streaming | 5–8 Mbps | 40 Mbps = 3–4 parallel streams |
| 4K streaming | 15–25 Mbps | 100 Mbps = 3–4 parallel 4K streams |
| Online gaming | <5 Mbps, but ping-sensitive | Fiber’s low latency is the real win |
| Game/patch downloads | As much as you have | 100 GB game: ~2.5 hrs at 100 Mbps, ~15 min at 1 Gbps |
| Cloud backup / video upload | Upload-bound | Creators: prioritize the 300 Mbps tier |
Is Airtel Fiber Good for Gaming?
Yes — Airtel Xstream Fiber is one of India’s best gaming connections because fiber delivers 3–10 ms ping to Indian servers, stable routing, and no data caps; for competitive titles like Valorant, BGMI, or FIFA, that latency matters far more than paying for 300 Mbps or 1 Gbps.
Practical gaming advice from the trenches: play on Ethernet, not Wi-Fi — a ₹300 LAN cable removes more lag spikes than any plan upgrade. If you must use Wi-Fi, park the console/PC on the 5 GHz band, and if your router sits in another room, a mesh node beats blaming Airtel. Cloud gaming (GeForce NOW and friends) wants 25–45 Mbps sustained with low jitter — fiber handles it; AirFiber’s variable latency makes it a gamble. And avoid AirFiber for ranked play generally: 5G FWA ping swings are real.
Installation: Process, Documents, Charges & Timeline
Airtel fiber installation is booked online, typically completed within 48 hours, and costs a ₹1,500 advance that is adjusted against your bills — the router and installation labour are free, though the router remains Airtel property and goes back if you disconnect.
The process: (1) check availability for your exact address on airtel.in — fiber is lane-specific, not just city-specific; (2) pick a plan and pay the advance; (3) an engineer pulls fiber from the nearest distribution box, terminates it at an ONT/router in your home, and activates the line; (4) test the speed on Ethernet before the engineer leaves — not on Wi-Fi. Keep your Aadhaar/passport/driving licence handy for KYC plus a passport photo; owners may be asked nothing more, tenants occasionally need landlord NOC in gated societies.
Placement tip most people learn too late: the engineer will route fiber the easiest way, which usually means the router lands next to your front door. Insist on placement central to where you actually use the internet — every wall between router and device costs you real-world speed. A ₹0 decision at installation beats a ₹5,000 mesh purchase later.
Hidden Costs and Fine Print to Know Before You Book
Airtel broadband’s advertised prices exclude 18% GST, the router is loaned rather than owned, AirFiber carries a 1TB fair-usage cap and ₹3,300 upfront, and OTT benefits are tied to your active subscription — cancel the plan and the bundled Netflix or Prime goes with it.
| Line item | Reality | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| GST | +18% on every bill (₹999 plan ≈ ₹1,179) | Budget on the GST-inclusive number |
| Installation “charge” | ₹1,500 advance, adjusted in bills | Fine — just know it’s parked, not lost |
| Router ownership | Airtel’s property; return on disconnection | Don’t lose the box/adapter; note condition at install |
| AirFiber upfront | ₹3,300 acquisition payment | Confirm refund terms if you cancel early |
| AirFiber FUP | 1TB/month, then 2 Mbps | Heavy streamers: choose fiber |
| OTT terms | Some benefits are 12-month, activation via Airtel Thanks app | Activate within the window; they don’t auto-appear |
| Static IP | Not included in home plans | Business need? Ask for the paid add-on |
| Advance rental discounts | 6/12-month prepay saves up to ~15% (varies by city/plan) | Ask retention for the current ARP offer before renewing monthly |
Router, Wi-Fi 6 and Mesh: Getting the Speed You Pay For
The free Airtel router is a capable dual-band unit (Wi-Fi 6 on higher tiers) that covers a typical 2BHK; for larger homes, multi-floor layouts, or 300 Mbps+ plans, add a mesh system or use your own router behind Airtel’s ONT rather than blaming the connection for weak far-room speeds.
- Test on Ethernet first. If wired speed matches your plan but Wi-Fi doesn’t, it’s a coverage problem, not an Airtel problem.
- Use 5 GHz for speed, 2.4 GHz for reach. Name the bands separately in router settings so you can choose per device.
- One wall costs 30–50% on 5 GHz. Central router placement or one mesh node usually fixes the “dead bedroom.”
- On 300 Mbps+ plans, check your devices: older phones/laptops with Wi-Fi 4/5 radios physically cannot show 300 Mbps on a speed test.
- Bridge mode is available: enthusiasts can run their own router/mesh behind the Airtel ONT — ask support to configure it.
Common Problems and Quick Troubleshooting
Most Airtel broadband complaints trace to four causes: Wi-Fi coverage (not the line), a degraded fiber bend after furniture moves, ONT power/reboot issues, and billing surprises from GST or lapsed OTT activations — and all four have five-minute checks before you call 121.
- Slow speeds: test on Ethernet at speedtest.net → matches plan? Fix Wi-Fi. Doesn’t? Reboot ONT, check for a red LOS light, then raise a ticket in the Airtel Thanks app — engineers typically visit within 24–48 hours.
- Red LOS/LED blinking: fiber signal loss — check the thin fiber patch cord behind the router for sharp bends or crush damage (a chair leg is the classic culprit). Don’t re-splice it yourself.
- Frequent disconnections at the same hour: note the pattern; it helps the engineer identify a shared-splitter or power issue at the distribution box.
- OTT not activating: claim benefits inside the Airtel Thanks app → “Rewards/Benefits” — most Netflix/Prime activations are app-triggered, not automatic.
- Escalation path that works: Thanks app ticket → 121 → Airtel’s appellate/nodal officer for your circle (details on airtel.in) — documented tickets get faster credits for downtime.
Pros and Cons of Airtel Broadband
Airtel Xstream Fiber’s strengths are network reliability, genuinely unlimited data, and India’s deepest OTT bundle; its weaknesses are GST-exclusive pricing that looks cheaper than it bills, lane-by-lane availability gaps, and a 100→300 Mbps jump with no middle tier anymore.
Pros: consistently low fiber latency (great for gaming and calls) · Netflix from ₹999 — the bundle beats standalone subscription math · Google One + Adobe Express on every plan · fast installation (usually 48 hours) and responsive fault resolution · advance-rental discounts up to ~15% · AirFiber fallback where fiber can’t reach.
Cons: +18% GST on top of every advertised price · router is loaned, not yours · no 200 Mbps middle tier since Airtel’s May 2025 plan refresh · ₹699/TV plans limited to select cities · AirFiber’s 1TB cap and higher ping · premium pricing versus Excitel/local ISPs on raw Mbps per rupee.
Expert Verdict: Who Should Buy Airtel Broadband?
Buy Airtel Xstream Fiber if you want a low-maintenance, genuinely unlimited fiber line with the strongest OTT bundle in India — start at ₹799 for pure internet, ₹999 if you’d subscribe to even two of Netflix/Prime/Apple TV anyway, and ₹1,599 for a 4K-heavy household or creator workload. Skip to JioFiber if it’s materially cheaper in your building and neighbours vouch for it, pick Excitel-style local ISPs for maximum speed per rupee without OTTs, and treat AirFiber as the capable stopgap for fiber-less addresses — not the first choice for gamers.
Which OTT Subscription Tier Comes With Each Airtel Plan?
Airtel’s plan cards name a specific tier for each bundled subscription, and the tier matters as much as the logo: as of September 2026, only the ₹999 plan lists full Amazon Prime, while the ₹1,199, ₹1,599 and ₹3,999 plans list Amazon Prime Lite. Netflix Premium (4K) appears only on the ₹3,999 plan; every other Netflix plan is Netflix Basic.
| Plan (₹/month + GST) | Netflix tier | Amazon tier | Other listed benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹999 (100 Mbps, no TV) | Netflix Basic | Amazon Prime | Apple TV, JioHotstar Super, ZEE5, Xstream Premium Pack, Google One, Adobe Express Premium |
| ₹1,199 (100 Mbps + TV) | Netflix Basic | Amazon Prime Lite | Apple TV, JioHotstar, ZEE5 Premium, Airtel Xstream, Google One (100GB), Adobe Express Premium |
| ₹1,599 (300 Mbps + TV) | Netflix Basic | Amazon Prime Lite | Apple TV, JioHotstar, ZEE5 Premium, Airtel Xstream, Google One (100GB), Adobe Express Premium |
| ₹3,999 (1 Gbps + TV) | Netflix Premium | Amazon Prime Lite | Apple TV, JioHotstar, ZEE5 Premium, Airtel Xstream, Google One (100GB), Adobe Express Premium, Apollo 24|7 Circle |
Amazon Prime Lite is a cheaper Amazon membership, not the full one. According to Amazon India, Prime Lite costs ₹799 a year against ₹1,499 for full Prime, and its Prime Video access is limited to one device, streams in HD rather than 4K, and includes advertisements. If full Prime Video matters to your household, the ₹999 plan’s benefit is the stronger one on paper. Benefit lists change without notice, so read the plan card for your address before paying. For a wider view of the apps themselves, see our guide to the top OTT platforms in India.
What Does Each Airtel Plan Cost Including GST?
Airtel Xstream Fiber prices are listed before 18% GST, so the monthly bill is the list price multiplied by 1.18. The figures below are simple arithmetic on Airtel’s September 2026 list prices; your bill can also include pro-rated charges in the first month.
| List price | Speed | Approx. monthly bill with 18% GST |
|---|---|---|
| ₹499 | 40 Mbps | ₹589 |
| ₹599 (select areas) | 30 Mbps + TV | ₹707 |
| ₹699 (select areas) | 40 Mbps + TV | ₹825 |
| ₹799 | 100 Mbps | ₹943 |
| ₹899 | 100 Mbps + TV | ₹1,061 |
| ₹999 | 100 Mbps + OTT | ₹1,179 |
| ₹1,199 | 100 Mbps + OTT + TV | ₹1,415 |
| ₹1,599 | 300 Mbps + OTT + TV | ₹1,887 |
| ₹3,999 | 1 Gbps + OTT + TV | ₹4,719 |
Airtel’s broadband page describes advance-rental discounts of 7.5% to 15% on 6- and 12-month payments, depending on the plan. On a monthly plan, the one-time ₹1,500 advance is adjusted against later bills rather than kept as a fee.
Is There an Airtel ₹599 Broadband Plan?
Yes. Airtel lists a ₹599 Xstream Fiber plan in select geographies only, with speeds up to 30 Mbps, unlimited data and 350+ TV channels including HD. According to Airtel’s plan listing, it also carries ZEE5, JioHotstar, Google One, access to 22+ OTT apps and 12 months of Adobe Express Premium. It suits a household that mainly wants TV channels plus light browsing; anyone who streams on several screens at once is better served by the ₹799 or ₹899 plans at 100 Mbps.
Airtel AirFiber Plans at a Glance
Airtel AirFiber is sold in three tiers — ₹699, ₹799 and ₹899 a month — and every tier shares the same rules: a 1TB monthly fair-usage limit, 2 Mbps after that, and installation only up to the 7th floor. The per-plan split below is as reported by Smartprix in May 2026; Airtel’s AirFiber page confirms the shared terms.
| AirFiber plan | Speed | TV and OTT | Data |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹699 | Up to 40 Mbps | 350+ TV channels via Xstream Box, 20+ OTT apps | 1TB, then 2 Mbps |
| ₹799 | Up to 100 Mbps | Data only | 1TB, then 2 Mbps |
| ₹899 | Up to 100 Mbps | 350+ TV channels via Xstream Box, 20+ OTT apps | 1TB, then 2 Mbps |
AirFiber is fixed wireless, so real speeds depend on 5G signal at the window where the outdoor unit sits. Read our explainer on whether fibre broadband is really better than other home connections if you are weighing the two.
How to Check the Exact Airtel Plan Available at Your Address
- Open the Airtel Thanks app or airtel.in and choose Broadband under the buy or Wi-Fi section.
- Enter your full address or PIN code. Fiber is sold lane by lane, so a neighbour’s plan list may not match yours.
- Read the plan card, not the banner. Check the Netflix tier, whether Amazon is Prime or Prime Lite, and any “select geographies” note.
- Compare the GST-inclusive total and the 6- or 12-month advance price before choosing monthly billing.
- After installation, test on a cable first. Our guide to Wi-Fi vs Ethernet speed explains why wired results are the fair benchmark, and these ways to increase your internet speed help when Wi-Fi falls short.
Common Mistakes When Choosing an Airtel Plan
- Comparing list prices across ISPs without GST. Airtel’s prices exclude 18% GST, so compare like with like.
- Assuming every plan includes full Amazon Prime. As of September 2026, the ₹1,199, ₹1,599 and ₹3,999 plans list Prime Lite.
- Paying for 1 Gbps with an old router or laptop. Many older devices cannot reach those speeds over Wi-Fi; see our pick of Wi-Fi 6, 6E and 7 routers if you plan to run your own router behind the Airtel ONT.
- Leaving the default Wi-Fi password in place. Change it on day one; here is how to change a Wi-Fi password.
- Forgetting to claim bundled OTTs. Most benefits must be activated in the Airtel Thanks app within a set window.
Frequently Asked Questions About Airtel Broadband
Which Airtel broadband plan is best?
The ₹999 Xstream Fiber plan is the best for most homes: 100 Mbps unlimited data plus Netflix Basic, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, JioHotstar Super, ZEE5, Google One, and Adobe Express — a bundle that costs more than the plan itself if bought separately.
What is the cheapest Airtel broadband plan?
₹499 per month (plus 18% GST) for 40 Mbps unlimited data, including Google One storage and 12 months of Adobe Express Premium. In select cities a ₹699 plan adds 350+ TV channels and JioHotstar at 40 Mbps.
Which Airtel Fiber plan includes Netflix?
Netflix Basic starts at the ₹999 plan and is also included at ₹1,199 and ₹1,599. The ₹3,999 / 1 Gbps plan upgrades this to Netflix Premium (4K, four screens).
Are Airtel broadband prices inclusive of GST?
No — every advertised price excludes 18% GST. The ₹799 plan bills about ₹943, the ₹999 plan about ₹1,179, and the ₹3,999 plan about ₹4,719 per month.
Is Airtel broadband truly unlimited?
Xstream Fiber plans are genuinely unlimited with no fair-usage throttling. Airtel AirFiber, the 5G wireless service, is the exception: after 1TB in a month, speed drops to 2 Mbps until the next cycle.
What are the Airtel installation charges?
You pay a ₹1,500 advance at booking, but it is adjusted against your future bills rather than kept as a fee. Installation labour and the Wi-Fi router are free; AirFiber instead takes a ₹3,300 upfront payment at connection on Airtel Black and 6- or 12-month standalone plans, according to Airtel (as of September 2026).
How long does Airtel fiber installation take?
Typically within 48 hours of booking, subject to fiber availability in your exact lane. The engineer pulls fiber from the nearest distribution box, installs the ONT/router, and activates the line the same visit.
Do I get a free router with Airtel broadband?
Yes — every plan includes a free dual-band Wi-Fi router (Wi-Fi 6 on higher tiers). It remains Airtel’s property, though: you return it if you disconnect, so keep it in good condition.
Is Airtel Fiber better than JioFiber?
They’re close. Airtel generally edges ahead on service response and OTT depth (Apple TV, Google One, Adobe Express); Jio sometimes wins on entry price and coverage. The practical tiebreakers: which network your neighbours report fewer outages on, and which ecosystem you already pay for.
Is Airtel AirFiber worth buying?
Yes — if fiber can’t reach your address. You get up to 100 Mbps over 5G with 20+ OTTs from ₹699–₹899. But mind the 1TB fair-usage cap, the ₹3,300 upfront payment on Black and 6- or 12-month plans, higher ping than fiber, and installation limited to roughly the 7th floor.
Which Airtel plan is best for gaming?
Any fiber plan from ₹799 up — gaming needs under 5 Mbps but loves fiber’s 3–10 ms ping. Choose ₹3,999 only if you download 100 GB titles regularly. Avoid AirFiber for competitive play; 5G latency fluctuates.
Which Airtel plan is best for a family of four?
₹999 if you stream on OTT apps, or ₹1,199 if the household also watches linear TV channels. Both give 100 Mbps — enough for three to four simultaneous 4K streams.
Which plan should YouTube creators or editors take?
The ₹1,599 / 300 Mbps plan — the higher tier meaningfully shortens multi-gigabyte uploads and cloud syncs. Pair it with Ethernet to your editing machine; Wi-Fi is usually the upload bottleneck.
How much speed do I need for 4K streaming?
Plan for 15–25 Mbps per 4K stream. A 100 Mbps plan comfortably runs three to four 4K streams alongside normal browsing; a 40 Mbps plan handles one 4K plus an HD stream.
Does Airtel broadband include Amazon Prime?
Yes. As of September 2026, Airtel lists full Amazon Prime on the ₹999 plan and Amazon Prime Lite on the ₹1,199, ₹1,599 and ₹3,999 plans. Activate it through the Airtel Thanks app; it isn’t automatic.
What are Google One and Adobe Express benefits?
Every Xstream Fiber plan includes Google One cloud storage and 12 months of Adobe Express Premium — genuinely useful for backups and quick design work, and a differentiator most rival ISPs don’t offer.
Can I get Airtel broadband without a TV/DTH bundle?
Yes — ₹499, ₹799, and ₹999 are internet+OTT plans without TV channels. The ₹699/₹899/₹1,199 tiers add 350+ TV channels for homes that still watch linear TV.
How do I check if Airtel Fiber is available at my address?
Enter your address on airtel.in’s broadband page — availability is lane-specific, not city-specific. If fiber isn’t available, Airtel will typically offer AirFiber where 5G coverage allows, and you can register interest for fiber expansion.
Can I use my own router with Airtel Fiber?
Yes — ask support to put the Airtel ONT in bridge mode and run your own router or mesh system behind it. Enthusiasts with Wi-Fi 6/6E mesh setups typically get better whole-home speeds than the stock unit.
Why is my Airtel speed test slower than my plan?
Test on Ethernet first. If wired speed matches the plan, your Wi-Fi coverage or device’s older Wi-Fi radio is the limit — not the line. If wired speed is also low, reboot the ONT, check for a red LOS light, and raise a ticket in the Airtel Thanks app.
What does a red LOS light mean?
Loss of fiber signal. Check the thin fiber patch cord behind the router for sharp bends or crush damage before calling — furniture pinching the cord is the most common cause. If the cord looks fine, book an engineer visit; don’t attempt a DIY splice.
How do I upgrade or downgrade my Airtel plan?
From the Airtel Thanks app or airtel.in account section — upgrades usually apply immediately or from the next cycle, with no re-installation needed. Downgrades take effect next billing cycle; bundled OTT benefits change to match the new tier.
How do I cancel Airtel broadband?
Request disconnection via the Thanks app or 121, clear the final bill, and return the router/ONT. Any unadjusted portion of your ₹1,500 advance is settled in the final bill. Get the disconnection reference number and confirm the equipment return is logged.
Do I lose Netflix and Prime if I cancel?
Yes — bundled OTT subscriptions ride on your active broadband plan. On downgrade or disconnection, tier-specific benefits (Netflix, Prime, Apple TV) lapse; your personal, separately-paid accounts are unaffected.
Does Airtel offer discounts for paying annually?
Yes — advance rental plans for 6 or 12 months carry discounts of up to roughly 15%, varying by plan and city. Ask retention for the current offer before auto-renewing monthly; it’s the easiest bill cut available.
Is there a static IP with Airtel home broadband?
Not by default — home plans use dynamic IPs (with IPv6 enabled in most circles). A static IP is available as a paid add-on, typically positioned for business connections; ask 121 or your local Airtel store.
Does weather affect Airtel broadband?
Fiber itself is weather-immune — rain outages usually trace to power cuts at distribution equipment or physical cable damage. AirFiber, being 5G radio, can see speed dips in heavy rain or peak-hour congestion.
Airtel Fiber vs BSNL — which should I pick?
BSNL Bharat Fibre is cheaper and reaches deeper into rural India, but fault resolution is slower and OTT bundles are thin. If uptime matters for work or study, Airtel’s service layer justifies the premium; if budget rules, BSNL is serviceable.
Airtel vs Excitel or a local ISP?
Excitel-style ISPs win raw speed per rupee (100–400 Mbps at ₹400–600 on long-term plans) but skip OTTs and can be colony-dependent on quality. Airtel costs more for the same Mbps and repays you in reliability, support, and bundled subscriptions.
Can I keep my Airtel connection when I move house?
Yes — Airtel offers connection shifting via the Thanks app. Feasibility depends on fiber availability at the new address; book the shift a week ahead, and if the new lane lacks fiber, ask about AirFiber as an interim.
What documents do I need for a new connection?
One government photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, driving licence) for KYC and a photograph. Tenants in gated societies occasionally need a landlord/association NOC for fiber routing — sort this before the engineer visit to avoid rescheduling.
Does Airtel broadband include voice calling?
Yes — plans include a landline connection with unlimited local/STD calling in most circles. Few households use it, but it’s there, and it can matter for offices that want a fixed number.
How many devices can a 100 Mbps plan handle?
Comfortably 15–25 typical smart-home and personal devices — the constraint is what they do simultaneously, not the count. Four 4K streams plus calls plus browsing fits in 100 Mbps; the usual choke point is Wi-Fi coverage, not bandwidth.
Is Airtel broadband good for work from home?
Yes — fiber’s stable low latency is ideal for video calls and VPNs. Take ₹799–₹999, put your work laptop on Ethernet or 5 GHz, and consider a 4G/5G backup (even a hotspot plan) since no wired ISP guarantees 100% uptime.
What is Airtel Xstream Play?
Airtel’s own streaming aggregator app bundling 20+ OTT partners’ catalogs. Higher fiber tiers include Xstream Premium access; it’s also how several bundled OTT benefits are delivered and activated.
What happened to the Airtel 200 Mbps plan?
Airtel removed the 200 Mbps tier in a May 2025 lineup refresh — the ladder now jumps from 100 Mbps (₹799–₹1,199) to 300 Mbps (₹1,599). Legacy 200 Mbps subscribers are being migrated; check your bill for your current tier.
Is JioHotstar different from Disney+ Hotstar?
JioHotstar is the successor platform after the Reliance-Disney India merger — Airtel’s bundles now carry JioHotstar (Super tier on ₹999+ plans). If an article or plan card still says “Disney+ Hotstar,” it’s outdated.
How do I activate my bundled OTT benefits?
Open the Airtel Thanks app → Rewards/Benefits section → claim each OTT within its activation window. Benefits are per-tier and don’t auto-activate; unclaimed windows are the most common “missing Netflix” complaint.
What speeds does Airtel 1 Gbps actually deliver?
Expect 800–940 Mbps on Ethernet with a capable device; Wi-Fi will show less (500–700 Mbps on good Wi-Fi 6 hardware near the router). A 100 GB game downloads in roughly 15 minutes at full tilt.
Does Airtel throttle torrents or specific apps?
Airtel states no application-level throttling on unlimited fiber plans, and independent user testing generally agrees. Speed variations you notice are far more often Wi-Fi, peering, or server-side limits than deliberate shaping.
Can I get Airtel broadband for a small office?
Yes — either a home plan (₹1,599/₹3,999 for headroom) or Airtel’s business broadband products, which add static IP options and SLAs. For 5–15 people on calls all day, 300 Mbps with a proper mesh/AP setup is the sweet spot.
Should I wait for a better plan or offer?
Airtel refreshes plans and city-specific offers a few times a year, but waiting rarely pays — pricing has been stable and the advance-rental discount (up to ~15%) is available now. If you need internet, book; you can migrate tiers freely later.
Does the Airtel ₹1,599 plan include full Amazon Prime?
No. As of September 2026, Airtel’s plan card for the ₹1,599 plan lists Amazon Prime Lite, as do the ₹1,199 and ₹3,999 plans. Only the ₹999 plan lists Amazon Prime. Prime Lite limits Prime Video to one device in HD with ads, according to Amazon India.
Is there an Airtel ₹599 broadband plan?
Yes, in select geographies. The ₹599 Xstream Fiber plan offers up to 30 Mbps with unlimited data, 350+ TV channels, ZEE5, JioHotstar and 22+ OTT apps, according to Airtel’s listing. It is not available at every address.
Do I have to pay ₹3,300 upfront for Airtel AirFiber?

How much Google One storage comes with Airtel broadband?
Airtel lists Google One with 100GB of cloud storage on the ₹1,199, ₹1,599 and ₹3,999 plans. Lower plans also list a Google One benefit, but the plan card should be checked for the storage size and whether it is a time-limited trial.
The Bottom Line
As of September 2026, Airtel Xstream Fiber is the safe, premium pick among Indian ISPs: genuinely unlimited fiber from ₹499 to ₹3,999 (+18% GST), the deepest OTT bundle in the market with Netflix starting at ₹999, free 48-hour installation against a ₹1,500 adjustable advance, and AirFiber (₹699–₹899) covering addresses fiber can’t reach — its 1TB cap aside. Size the plan to your busiest hour with the tables above, prepay 6–12 months for the discount, test your speeds on Ethernet, and spend any leftover budget on Wi-Fi coverage rather than a bigger number you’ll never feel.
