Store Credit Card Logins: Issuers, Portals & Numbers

Quick answer: A store credit card is almost never issued by the shop whose name is on it — it is issued by a bank, and that bank runs the login portal and the phone line. The table below gives the current issuer, portal and service number for twelve of the most searched store cards, with a full guide for each.

Last verified: 10 September 2026. Every issuer, portal address and phone number below was checked against the issuing bank’s own published pages on this date. Card programmes change hands with little warning — confirm anything account-specific with the number printed on your own card.

This is the single most common problem with store cards, and it is almost always one of four causes.

1. The Card Changed Banks

Retailers move their card programmes between banks, and when they do, the login address, the phone number and often the payment network all change. Your old credentials stop working because they belonged to an account at a bank that no longer services the card. Three cards in this list changed hands recently:

Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic moved from Synchrony to Barclays in May 2022, and switched from Visa to Mastercard.
Walmart ended its Capital One partnership on 24 May 2024; accounts converted to Capital One Quicksilver, and Walmart’s new programme runs through OnePay with Synchrony.

If your card is on that list, register again on the new bank’s portal rather than trying to recover an old password.

2. The Retailer Closed

A shop closing does not close your account or cancel your balance, because the lender is the bank. Zulily wound down in December 2023 and Gettington no longer trades as a storefront, but balances on both remained payable to the issuing bank.

3. Details Do Not Match

Registration and password recovery compare what you type against what the bank holds. An old ZIP code from a previous address is the most frequent mismatch. Repeated failed attempts then lock the account, which cannot be undone from the login page — that needs a phone call.

4. Something Technical

Clear your browser cache and cookies, try a different browser or a private window, switch off any VPN (banking portals routinely block VPN traffic), and check your device clock is correct, since a wrong system time breaks secure connections.

How to Find Out Who Issues Your Card

Look at the back of the card. The issuing bank is named there, along with the correct service number. This is the most reliable source and it beats any website.
Check your statement. The issuer name and the remittance address are printed on it.
Look at the network logo. A Mastercard or Visa logo means the card works beyond the store; no logo usually means a store-only card.

Paying a Store Card Bill

Online is fastest — sign in to the issuer’s portal and pay from a linked bank account. Setting autopay to the full statement balance prevents late fees and interest together, which matters far more than any rewards rate.
By phone, using the number on your card. Ask whether an assisted-payment fee applies if you reach an agent.
By mail, to the remittance address on your current statement. Never reuse an address from an older bill — it changes when a programme moves banks.
In store, at the register, where the retailer still trades.

Store Cards and Interest: The Part Worth Being Blunt About

Store cards typically pay generous-looking rewards inside their own shops — often around 5% in value — and charge high variable interest rates, frequently well above mainstream cards. Those two facts interact simply: the rewards are worth having only if you clear the balance in full every month. Carry a balance, and the interest will exceed the rewards several times over.

We deliberately do not publish specific APRs on these pages. Retail card rates are variable, tied to the Prime Rate, and any figure printed in an article dates quickly — the rate that applies to you is in your cardholder agreement and on your statement. Staying Safe When You Log In

Type the portal address yourself or use your own bookmark. Never reach a card login from a link in an email, a text message or a search advertisement.
Be sceptical of “your card is being replaced” messages. Card programmes genuinely did move recently, which makes it a convenient story for anyone phishing cardholders.
Never share a one-time passcode, your full card number or your password with someone who contacted you. Hang up and call the number on your card.
No legitimate lender collects payment by gift card, wire transfer or a payment app. That single tell identifies a scam on its own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who issues my store credit card?

Store cards are issued by banks, not by the retailer. Look at the back of your card or your statement, where the issuing bank is named along with the correct service number.

The most common reason is that the card changed banks, which changes the login address and phone number and invalidates old credentials. Other causes are a details mismatch such as an old ZIP code, an account locked by repeated failed attempts, or a browser or VPN issue.

Do I still owe the balance if the shop closed?

Yes. The lender is the bank, not the retailer, so a shop closing does not cancel the debt. Zulily and Gettington are both examples where balances remained payable after the storefront went.

Which store cards recently changed banks?

Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic moved from Synchrony to Barclays in May 2022 and switched from Visa to Mastercard. Walmart ended its Capital One partnership on 24 May 2024, with accounts converting to Capital One Quicksilver, and now runs a programme through OnePay with Synchrony.

Are store credit cards worth it?

They pay well inside their own shops, often around 5% in value, but charge high variable interest. They are worth it only if you clear the balance in full every month; carrying a balance costs more in interest than the rewards return.

Type the portal address yourself or use your own bookmark rather than following a link from an email, text or advertisement. Never share a one-time passcode, and remember that no legitimate lender collects payment by gift card, wire transfer or payment app.
