How to Save a Webpage as a PDF on Any Browser or Phone

To save a webpage as a PDF, open the page and press Ctrl + P (Command + P on a Mac), then choose Save as PDF (Chrome, Edge) or Save to PDF (Firefox) as the destination and click Save. On iPhone, use Safari’s Share menu and Save File To; on Android, use Chrome’s Share, then Print, then Save as PDF.

Note (September 2026): Microsoft retired Internet Explorer in June 2022. On Windows, Microsoft Edge replaces it and can save a page as a PDF through Print, then Save as PDF.

On Windows, common browsers include Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge (which replaced the retired Internet Explorer) and Firefox; on a Mac, Safari is the built-in browser, and Chrome and Firefox are also available. Here’s how you can convert webpages as PDF with them.

Convert Webpages to PDF in Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer was once the most widely used web browser, but Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer 11 on June 15, 2022 (Windows 10 Semi-Annual Channel editions), according to Wikipedia’s Internet Explorer article. The steps below applied to the Adobe Acrobat toolbar in IE and are kept for reference; on current Windows PCs, use Microsoft Edge instead (see the Edge section below).

• On the Adobe PDF toolbar select the “Convert Menu”.
• If you wish to save the entire webpage, choose “Convert Web Page to PDF”, select a location and a filename and “Save”.
• If there are certain portions of the webpage that you wish to convert then you can select and click the areas (they appear as blue) and convert them as previously stated. You can deselect the area by clicking again.
• If you wish to add the current webpage to another PDF, select the option “Add Web Page to Existing PDF”; locate the pre-existing file and click “Save”.

Convert Webpages to PDF in Google Chrome

To convert a webpage into PDF while using Google Chrome is fairly simple.

• Press Ctrl + P (Windows/Linux) or Command + P (Mac), or click the 3-dot icon in the top right-hand corner of the Google Chrome window and select “Print”.
• The print window opens. In the Destination list, choose “Save as PDF”. On selecting the option, a preview of the pages is loaded. You can select which pages to save, change the layout of those pages etc.

• Once your desired changes are incorporated in the document, you can “Save” it at the desired location.

Convert Webpages to PDF in Firefox

Current versions of Firefox on Windows, Mac and Linux include a built-in “Save to PDF” option: open the print preview and choose “Save to PDF” in the Destination drop-down menu, according to Mozilla Support. On Windows, the “Microsoft Print to PDF” printer also works, using the following steps.

• Open the print menu by pressing ‘CTRL+P’.
• From the options available select “Microsoft Print to PDF” function.

• Select a name and destination for the file and click “Save” to finish the procedure.

People are constantly using their mobiles to surf the internet as well as for doing their work. The above procedures of saving webpages as PDF work great with desktop or laptops. If however, one wishes to save webpages as PDF on their mobiles, few changes are required to do so.

Convert Webpages to PDF in iOS

To convert a webpage as a PDF document while using your iPhone, you need to follow these steps.

• In Safari, open the webpage, tap the Page Menu button, then tap Share (or tap the Share button directly if your Tabs layout is Bottom or Top).
• Older iOS versions offered a “Save PDF to iBooks” option here. iBooks has since been renamed Books (Apple Books, September 2018). On current iOS, Apple’s iPhone User Guide describes tapping Markup to annotate if needed, then choosing Save File To, entering a file name and tapping Save.
• The PDF is then stored in the Files app location you chose (or in Books, if you open it there), where you can read it anytime.
• Sometimes formatting issues may occur while saving webpages on mobiles. If this is the case, try saving the documents on a desktop.

Convert Webpages to PDF in Android

Android phones can convert webpages to PDF without any extra app. In Chrome, tap More (three dots), then Share, then Print; choose “Save as PDF” at the top and pick a storage location, according to Google’s Chrome Help. Third-party apps such as a “Convert Web to PDF” app are an alternative.

Such apps typically work by pasting the page URL into the app and may add basic editing or sharing options; features differ between apps, so check an app’s permissions and reviews before installing it.

How Do You Save a Webpage as a PDF in Microsoft Edge?

Microsoft Edge saves a webpage as a PDF through its Print dialog. According to Microsoft Support, open the print view with Settings and more, then Print, or press Ctrl + P on Windows (Command + P on macOS).

1. Open the page you want to keep.
2. Press Ctrl + P, or right-click the page and select Print.
3. Set the printer to Save as PDF.
4. Under More settings, tick Background graphics if you want page backgrounds included.
5. Click Save and choose a folder and file name.

How Do You Save a Webpage as a PDF in Safari on a Mac?

Safari on a Mac uses the standard macOS Print dialog. Apple’s Mac User Guide describes these steps:

1. Choose File > Print.
2. Click the PDF button, or open the PDF pop-up menu and choose Save as PDF.
3. Enter a name and choose a location for the file.
4. Optionally click Security Options to require a password to open, copy from or print the document.

The same PDF pop-up menu also offers Save to Web Receipts, Send in Mail and Save to iCloud Drive, according to Apple.

Tips for Better-Looking Webpage PDFs

• Check the preview first. The print preview shows what the PDF will contain, so you can drop blank or unwanted pages with the page-range setting.
• Include backgrounds only when needed. Edge has a Background graphics setting under More settings; leaving it off saves ink if the PDF is printed later.
• Expect some layout changes. The browser builds the PDF from the page’s print layout, so menus, ads or interactive elements may move or disappear.
• Protect sensitive files. On a Mac, Security Options in the Print dialog can add a password; on other systems, a PDF editor can do the same.
