On April 26, 1980, Nikki Martinez was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. She is a skilled dancer who attended the Boston Ballet School before moving on to professional hip-hop dance in Texas. She graduated early from college with a bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Texas. Nikka Martinez Garcia considers herself both privileged and lucky to have five generations of women in a house which is an extremely unusual and exceptional event. The young mother of four discusses how family traditions and critical lessons, as well as the knowledge, passed down from generation to generation, have helped her stay grounded and nurture her children. She says, “We teach and encourage them to seek a relationship with God. This is a solid foundation that reassures us they will be okay as they go through each season in their lives. We value communication as well. We want them to be able to speak their minds and their feelings as they learn to communicate.” Nikka discusses their respective relationships with her children.
Her mother, Mikki, enjoys indulging her children to a degree. She is really close to her mother, therefore she helps her strengthen her desire for children. But at the same time, she reminds her that she is their grandmother. Nikka’s grandma, Che, whom she affectionately refers to as Nuna, indulges her children to her heart’s content. Meanwhile, Florence, her great-grandma, enjoys sharing her life experiences, wisdom, and sense of humor. Nikka’s great-grandmother says “We are all so close to each other. We are very open and updated on each other’s lives. We’ve got each other’s backs—both adults and kids.”
Relationship
Nikka Martinez is the wife of Patrick Garcia, a Philippine actor. Garcia married Nikka Martinez in March 2015. They have one boy and three daughters: Michelle Celeste “Chelsea” (born 2012), Nicola Patrice (born 2016), Francisca Pia (born 2017), and Enrique Pablo (born 2021). Patrick has another kid, Alex Jazz, with his previous partner Jennylyn Mercado. Garcia traveled for New York “to pursue studies in directing at New York University” in June 2008, however, his ambitions to attend film school did not materialize. He abandoned Jennylyn Mercado, who was at the time pregnant with their kid. He married Nikka Martinez. The couple recently celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary.
Patrick got several more parts in films and soap operas, including Gimik, Araw-araw, Gabi-gabi, and Asero, among others. Then, in 1996, he won Best Child Actor at the FAMAS Awards for his performance as Ryan in Olivia M. Lamasan’s highly praised film Madrasta. Garcia won several honors for his performance in the 1997 film Batang PX. Garcia has been working regularly since Madrasta, taking on more tough character parts in films such as Mano Po III: My Love, Nagbibinata, and the television shows Captain Barbell and Super Twins. Garcia was a member of the founding cast of Ang TV. He was later reintroduced as a part of Star Circle (now Star Magic) Batch 2 on ABS-CBN.
Martinez described her experience on her website, nikkagarcia.com, saying that she and Garcia were overjoyed when they found out about the pregnancy back in January 2017. She stated, “We informed our family and close friends, and I even hinted about this blessing when I was doing Instagram Live. I just couldn’t wait. We were about to have another baby! “Another wonderful blessing!” However, Martinez’s euphoria was short-lived when she saw on March 2, a day before they had intended to announce the news to the public. She immediately rushed to visit her doctor and was horrified to learn that her baby’s heartbeat had stopped.
Her doctor told her that they could do DnC, but it would be akin to a Caesarean section. She was not prepared to be operated on. She was in denial. She didn’t want to leave the ultrasound room; she wanted to remain a little longer just in case her baby’s heartbeat returned. Martinez revealed that she and Garcia returned home rather than adopting the DnC option, confessing that they still hoped for a miracle to occur. She revealed that she went into labor the next day, which was a traumatic experience for someone who had surgery for both of her prior pregnancies.
She rose from my bathroom floor to get a pillow to support herself, and as she fought to stand, her baby emerged from me. She took my infant in her palm and washed him/her. At that moment, she recalls asking her baby for forgiveness. She grabbed the first box she could locate and put my baby inside before she passed out from tiredness. Martinez claimed she and Garcia buried the infant the next morning, right next to her grandfather. Finally, Martinez thanked everyone for their support and encouragement, stating that the nice words were quite helpful to her.
Garcia began his career at ABS-CBN before moving to rival network GMA Network. During his time at ABS-CBN, he worked with actresses Anna Larrucea, Paula Peralejo, and Jodi Sta. Maria, with whom he collaborated on several significant films such as Tabing Ilog (also with Peralejo), Pangako Sa ‘Yo, Darating sa Umaga, and Kampanerang Kuba. He also appeared in Babangon Ako’t Dudurugin Kita and Obra. Garcia appeared in the 2009 adaptation of Kung Aagawin Mo ang Lahat sa Akin, which also starred Maxene Magalona and Glaiza de Castro.
