Tractor Emission Norms in India (TREM)
Tractor Emission Regulations (TREM) set exhaust limits for agricultural tractors in India. According to DieselNet’s summary of Indian non-road emission standards, TREM Stage IV became effective on 1 January 2023. TREM Stage V was first due in April 2024 and was postponed to April 2026.
A proposal released in February 2026 would phase TREM V in instead: tractors above 75 HP and below 25 HP from 1 October 2026, while the 25-50 HP category would move to an interim TREM IIIAA stage from April 2028 and to full TREM V only from April 2032. As of September 2026 this timeline is a proposal, so buyers should confirm the currently notified rules with a dealer. Stricter norms generally mean added after-treatment hardware and higher prices.
