During Surfshark’s Black Friday deal, Surfshark One costs exactly the same as Starter on the 24-month and 12-month plans. So One is the better buy for most people: you get the same VPN plus antivirus, scam protection and data leak alerts for no extra cost on your first term. Renewal prices are not shown, and One’s renewal price may be higher. One+ adds identity theft coverage and data removal, but those extras only work in certain countries, so it is mainly worth it for US residents (outside New York State), who can use both extras. People in the UK, EU, Switzerland or Canada can use only the data removal service.
Below are the prices and features from Surfshark’s own pricing page as we saw it on 29 October 2026, plus who each plan suits. If the Black Friday deal has ended when you read this, compare the prices you see: Starter and One may no longer cost the same.

Surfshark plan prices
| Plan length | Starter | One | One+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24 months + 3 extra (paid today) | $67.23 ($2.49/mo) | $67.23 ($2.49/mo) | $107.73 ($3.99/mo) |
| 12 months + 3 extra (paid today) | $44.85 ($2.99/mo) | $44.85 ($2.99/mo) | $104.85 ($6.99/mo) |
| 1 month | $18.95 | $19.95 | $22.85 |
Surfshark’s “save 87%” style labels compare the deal with paying the 1-month price every month. For example, Starter’s “old price” of $511.65 for 27 months is simply $18.95 × 27. The pricing page does not show what the long plans cost when they renew; its FAQ says only that you will be charged “the applicable renewal price”. Look for the renewal price at checkout or in your account before you pay; if you can’t find it, ask Surfshark support.
Plan length matters too. For One+, the 24-month plan costs only $2.88 more than the 12-month plan ($107.73 against $104.85) but covers 12 more months. For Starter and One, the 24-month plan costs $22.38 more than the 12-month plan ($67.23 against $44.85) for 12 more months. The 12-month plan also reaches the unknown renewal price sooner.

Surfshark Starter: the VPN on its own
Starter includes the full VPN on unlimited devices, the ad and cookie pop-up blockers, split tunneling, rotating IP, double VPN and Alternative ID for masked email addresses. It does not include the antivirus, scam protection or leak alerts.
Starter only costs less than One on the 1-month plan ($18.95 against $19.95). On the long Black Friday plans the price is the same, so most people lose nothing by picking One. Choose Starter if you only want a VPN and don’t plan to use the extra tools. Starter may also renew for less: its 1-month price is lower, though Surfshark doesn’t show renewal prices.
Surfshark One: the Black Friday pick
Surfshark labels One as its Black Friday deal. It has everything in Starter, plus:
- Antivirus with scheduled scans, webcam protection and real-time protection.
- Scam protection: scam text protection, an email scam checker and a web content blocker (scam call protection was marked “coming soon”).
- Alert: warnings if your personal data, credit card or ID details show up in a data leak.
On the 24-month deal you pay $67.23 for 27 months, the same as Starter.

Surfshark One+: only worth it in some countries
One+ adds two services on top of One:
- Identity theft coverage: reimbursement of up to $1 million for the costs of restoring your identity after identity theft, up to $1,000 for mental health counseling, and a licensed identity theft investigator. Surfshark says it is available to US residents, including US territories and the District of Columbia, except New York State. Surfshark is not an insurer: the benefits come from HSB Specialty Insurance Company, and exclusions apply.
- Incogni data removal, which asks companies and people search sites to delete your data. Surfshark says it is available for US, UK, EU, Swiss and Canadian residents only.
On the 24-month deal, One+ costs $40.50 more than One for the 27 months ($107.73 against $67.23). On the 12-month plan the gap is $60.00. If you live outside those countries, you can’t use either extra, so One is the better choice. If you live in the UK, EU, Switzerland or Canada, the extra $40.50 (24-month plan) pays only for data removal. One+ is a bundle: Surfshark’s terms say you can’t cancel just one of the bundled services and keep the others.
No plan includes the paid add-ons. A dedicated IP (available in 20 locations) and Alternative Number are bought separately from your Surfshark account page, and their prices were not shown on the pricing page.
Which Surfshark plan should you buy?
- Most people: One on the 24-month plan ($67.23 for 27 months), the same first-term price as Starter.
- US residents (outside New York State) who want identity theft cover and data removal: One+. In the UK, EU, Switzerland or Canada, choose One+ only if data removal alone is worth $40.50 extra to you.
- A short need: Starter on the 1-month plan ($18.95), the cheapest way to use Surfshark for a few weeks.

All Surfshark plans come with a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first purchase. Frequently asked questions

Both have the same VPN on unlimited devices. One adds antivirus, scam protection and data leak alerts.
Is Surfshark One worth it?
During the Black Friday deal, yes for most people. It costs the same as Starter on the 24-month and 12-month plans, so the extras cost nothing extra for the first term. Surfshark does not show renewal prices, so check them before you buy.
What does Surfshark One+ add?
Identity theft cover for US residents (not New York State) and Incogni data removal for US, UK, EU, Swiss and Canadian residents. See the One+ section above for the details.
How many devices can I use with Surfshark?
Unlimited, on every plan, including Starter.
How much does Surfshark cost after the first term?
Surfshark’s pricing page doesn’t show the renewal price as a number. It says you will be charged “the applicable renewal price”, and that the 24-month plan renews yearly. Look for it at checkout or in your account, or ask support.
Is Surfshark Starter enough?
Yes, if you only want a VPN. Starter has the full VPN, ad blocking, split tunneling and double VPN. You miss only the antivirus, scam protection and leak alerts in One.
