A young child witnesses his father being hanged in front of him; fifteen years later, he goes home seeking retribution. In Agneepath, Vijay Chauhan seeks revenge on the cruel and vicious Kaancha, who hangs Vijay’s father to death. Vijay’s only goal in life is to exact revenge on his father’s killer. The narrative centers on Vijay Chauhan, his familial ties, and most importantly, his desire for vengeance. On the island of Mandwa, twelve-year-old Vijay resides with his mother and his esteemed father Dinanath, a schoolteacher. When Sanjay Dutt’s character Kancha Cheena shows along, she demands to lease the peasants’ property in return for earnings from a purported salt business. Kancha wants to seize control of the island to produce cocaine.
The villagers are cautioned about Kancha by Vijay’s father. The villagers turn against the schoolteacher and hang him after Kancha blames him for the sexual assault of a crippled young girl at his school as payback. Vijay leaves the island with his expectant mother. Crime lord Rauf Lala (Rishi Kapoor), who is sought by the police for female trafficking, takes Vijay under his wing in Mumbai. Despite being a witness to Rauf’s murder, Vijay declines to testify against him. Vijay shoots the dishonest police officer who is being paid by Rauf’s adversaries and flees to be with Rauf, who is moved by the young boy’s potential.
The mother of Vijay removes her daughter Shiksha from Vijay’s influence since she disagrees with the route that her son has chosen. Vijay longs for her mother and sister’s affection. After fifteen years, Vijay (played by Hrithik Roshan) is prepared to go back to Mandwa. Living in the same Chawl as Vijay, Kaali (Priyanka Chopra) is in love with him. Using a state politician as a go-between, Vijay first foils Kancha’s scheme to distribute cocaine directly in Mumbai through network disruption. This gains Rauf’s confidence. Next, he commands one of Kancha’s apprehended men to shoot Rauf. In Rauf Lala’s view, Vijay becomes a son after taking the bullet. Then, during Rauf’s son Mazhar’s wedding, he plots a coup by enticing Mazhar outside before murdering him and making it appear as though Kancha gave the order. Rauf gets hospitalized after suffering a heart attack. Now that Vijay has established himself as Mumbai’s top drug dealer, he meets Kancha in Mandwa to arrange a contract for Kancha to sell narcotics to Mumbai.
After giving Vijay cautious treatment, Kancha tells him that Rauf has left the hospital and has taken Shiksha hostage to be sold. Rauf is attacked by Vijay and killed before he can sell Shiksha. Vijay’s mother reveals to Shiksha that her brother is Vijay. When Siksha visits Vijay in the Chawl, everyone in the Chawl comes out to welcome her as if she were their sister. According to a dishonest police officer working for Kancha, Vijay’s mother and sister are still alive, and he is Dinanath’s son. Kancha sends his men to disrupt the wedding celebration as Vijay makes the marriage proposal to Kaali. Kaali passes away, but Vijay lives. After that, Kancha abducts Vijay’s mother and sister and makes him travel to Mandwa. Vijay hits Mandwa and manages to stun Kancha, but Kancha is simply too powerful. Even after Vijay is shot and stabbed by Kancha, he refuses to die. Kancha now pulls Vijay to the same tree where he killed Dinanath by lynching him. With his last remaining power, Vijay overcomes Kancha and lynches him in its place. He perishes at the hands of his sister and mother. At last, Vijay’s mother pardons him for selecting the Agneepath.
The film “83,” directed by Kabir Khan, tells the tale of one of the most momentous occasions in Indian history. The country was still attempting to establish itself on the international scene when it won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Even though India had been emancipated from colonial authority for 36 years, respect was still a need. The team that was chosen to compete in the World Cup in England under Kapil Dev’s captaincy was more enthused about the opportunity to take a paid holiday than they were about the possibility of winning the competition. The front-runners were the Englishmen, the lethal West Indians, and the tough Australians. Not even in their wildest imaginations would anyone have placed a wager on the Indian team. Even the team members wouldn’t have chosen if given the choice. The fact that the team’s return tickets were reserved far in advance of the World Cup Final dates gives one an idea of the expectations. So, with no expectations whatsoever, players from all across India reached for what they thought would be a brief visit to England.
