Paying income tax is one the mandatory tasks for the citizens of any country. It is our duty to pay the income tax to our government on time. For paying income tax, it is also necessary to register and make an account on income tax website. The Income Tax website is used by the people or the taxpayer in India to file their income tax returns.

How to Register on Income Tax Website?
If you have not registered yourself on Income Tax website, then follow the below steps for income tax login and online registration on income tax website:
- Visit https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
- Click on ‘Register Yourself’.
- A new screen will appear and ask you to select the appropriate user type, so there will be different types like Individual, HUF, partnership firm, etc., so you can select an appropriate type.
- Now in the next step and the next screen, you have to enter your Name, PAN and date of birth.
- Now, the User ID will be your PAN number.
- You have to select a strong Password (Password may be the combination numbers and alphabet).
- You have to choose the primary and secondary questions; you have to provide your answers respectively. These questions and answers will be helpful for you when you forget your password.
- You will receive a confirmation message and OTP on your registered mobile number and email.
- Go to your mailbox and you have to click on the activation link which is provided by the IT department.
- Once you click on the link, the registration process will get complete on the website of the Income Tax department.
- For Login, you have to use your User ID and password.
Now you can access your account, but ensure that you shouldn’t have to share your password and other credentials related to income tax login details with anyone for the safety of your account. In future, if you want to change your mobile number, email id or address, then you can also update it here as well.
How to Login on Income Tax Website?
Once you register yourself, then you have to login on the website and for that, you can follow the steps:
- Visit https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home.
- If you are a Registered User, then you can click on the Login Here button.
- Once you click on the button, the new screen will appear.
- Now you have to enter the User ID, Password, and then enter Captcha that is shown as Captcha code.
- Then, click on the Login button.
What to Do If I Forgot My Password?
Many times, people forgot their password, and if you also forgot it, then you can recover it easily by following the below steps:
- Visit https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home.
- If you are a Registered User, then you can click on the Login Here button.
- Once you click on the button, the new screen will appear.
- For Reset Password, a new screen will appear, where two option available either you can enter your User ID & Enter Captcha or you can request for OTP by entering your mobile number.
- Now, you can set or create a ‘New Password’ and then click on ‘Confirm’ to confirm your New Password.
